WHERE WILL MY TUITION TAKE PLACE?
My preference is to work with you in your home environment. However during Covid19, I am happy to tutor online using Zoom if you or your parents prefer. I will tutor in the following areas, Ascot, Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Winkfield, Windlesham, Lightwater, Bagshot, Bracknell.
WHAT TIME OF DAY CAN I HAVE MY TUITION?
Most students book a regular weekly slot in advance. I normally teach after school and early evening during week days but I am happy to discuss other timings with you if you’d prefer.
HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHAT I NEED TO LEARN?
The beauty of tutoring is that it is relaxed and flexible and focuses entirely on your needs in mathematics. When you start your sessions we can identify together areas you find easy in maths and things you find hard. Your parents and teachers will also have ideas about what you might need to work on and we can build them into our lessons too. As we work together we will pick up on other things you might not fully understand or if you come across new work in class we can look at this too.
CAN YOU HELP ME IF I NEED URGENT HELP WITH MY SCHOOL WORK?
Yes, we can either go over any questions you have during our sessions or, if you are years 9 to 11, you can email me any problems you have and we can go over them on line.
WILL YOU SET ME ADDITIONAL HOMEWORK?
This is something I will discuss with you when we first meet to chat about your sessions. If you would like additional work set I will ensure this is prepared for you at the appropriate level. I will also try to provide you with answers so you can mark your work. We can go over any problems you had at the start of the next session or, if you are years 9 to 11 , you can email me any questions you are struggling with and we can go over them on line.
CAN I CONTINUE WITH MY TUITION DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS?
Yes I will usually be available during school holidays and you can book your sessions in advance as usual.
HOW DO YOU SET UP SMALL GROUP TUITION?
Small groups are usually arranged by groups of parents whose children are of a similar age and level in mathematics, perhaps in the same class at school. They can organise a time that suits everyone and benefit from a lower hourly rate.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM UNWELL OR CAN’T MAKE TUITION?
If you need to cancel your tuition I ask that you give me 48 hours’ notice. If there are exceptional circumstances please let me know and if possible we can postpone your session to another day.
WHY DOES IT COST MORE FOR EXAMINATION PREPARATION THAN ORDINARY TUITION?
Examination preparation is much more intensely focused on the examination you are about to take. IÂ will assume you already have a good knowledge base at your predicted level and will focus on ways to ensure you achieve your grade, if not improve on it. You will work on a lot on examination questions and techniques. These sessions will require me to spend a lot more time planning your work to ensure you are focusing on questions and techniques that are going to boost your grade.
